Marres, Centre for Contemporary Culture occupies a spacious gallery in an 18th-century mansion in Maastricht. The cultural centre invites artists from the Netherlands and abroad to exhibit their work on the premises. The emphasis lies on the presentation of new developments in the international world of contemporary art. Marres’s programme of exhibitions, video shows, lectures, performances and debates is intended to stimulate discourse among artists, intermediaries and public.

As an addition to the programma, Marres publishes essays on contemporary art, design and interior on a regular basis.
